Boston-Area Showing of Documentary on Mayan Resistance to Gold Mining in Guatemala

As we get ready for our Guatemala action at this year’s Get on the Bus, please join members of Amnesty International Group 133 and the Guatemala Solidarity Committee of Boston for a screening of the documentary Sipakapa No Se Vende/ Sipakapa Is Not for Sale this Friday evening, March 13th at 6:00 p.m., in Lynn, MA.

Lynn is the adopted home of many people from Sipakapa and other areas of San Marcos, Guatemala. The event is being organized by local members of the Guatemalan community, and the evening will include Guatemalan food and the film screening.

The event will be held at Family & Children's Service of Greater Lynn, Inc., 111 North Common St., Lynn, MA 01902. A map from the Amnesty Northeast Regional Office to the event site is available by clicking here.

Sipakapa No Se Vende/ Sipakapa Is Not for Sale focuses on the Mayan Sipakapense people’s resistance to gold mining activities in their community by Glamis Gold, Ltd./Goldcorp. (The film is mostly in Spanish with English subtitles.)
