It has been 10 years since the start of the Darfur crisis.
“Would you help me if…?”
If I were driven from my home in Boston by attacks from the government, would you help me?
If the Air Force bombed my town of Woburn, would you help me?
If my home were attacked and burned, would you help me?
If I had to live in a shelter, a refugee camp, and needed food, would you help me?
If I had to live in caves, eating only grass, would you help me?
If my sister were assaulted trying to fetch firewood, would you help her?
If my son were recruited to be a child soldier, would you help him?
In Boston, I am safe.
In Boston, I have food.
In Boston, I have clean water.
In Boston, I have sanitation.
In Boston, I have a home
Act now to help Sudan.
- Bob Saulnier
“First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a communist;
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Catholics, and I did not speak out –
because I was not Catholic;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—
and there was no one left to speak out for me.”
- Martin Niemöller
